This woman, of course from the USA, is somehow claiming that her ‘love handles’ (which should not be sanctioned as a grammatically correct phrase) saved her life after surviving a near fatal shooting.
“Thank God, I’m going to be 36. I could have been dead. They said my love handles saved my life,” she said.
“I’d been hollering how I want to lose weight. I don’t want to lose weight anymore. I want to be as big as I can if it’s going to stop a bullet.”
Haha, people this thick, this stupid are beyond the reach of my brain.
Why doesn’t she lose all her weight so she can look like this… Well maybe not that good, but she can try.
My mannnn! Dean baby Horsefield has been hard at work clocking some sweet footage of the local Sunshine Coast guys riding some parks around the area. The result is as follows;
Riders include; Jackson Townsend, Rhys Jesse, Dean Horsefield, Sean Vaughn, Aaron Guse, Dave Phillips, William Lloyd and I think Jono Hart.
So awesome to see local dudes making edits. Love it.
New shit is so fuckin rad, let me share it with you. Tempered B’s. Hopefully we catch up with Norm again this weekend in Maryborough, i lent him some things i need back.. Van times, fun times, broken times, jeff bahr times. “No Weed”
Apart from entering into internet and destroying my mind with any bullshit topic that attracts me… I have been doing my stuff…what have you been doing?
Not too much happening today. I have been reading a lot in preparation for a number of homosexual assignments due in a month or so. To accompany my reading, I usually pick out a band which I haven’t listened to in a while. Every so often I become pleasantly surprised, as was the case today.
“see yourself, your image in the eyes of someone else see yourself, your fears as they appear to someone else”
Hailing from the dreary wake of London, The Horror’s have encapsulated the melancholy of bands such as The Cure & The Smith’s and converted the hairy, scary ‘image’ into two awesome, yet totally contrasting albums.
Definite similarity right..
“Though youth may fade with boyhood´s cares New fear will catch us unawares I know it will”
Strange House (2007) was a gritty debut which reverberated garage punk back and forth, scratching at your ears. Primary Colours (2009), is layered with glossy psychadelia & eerie backings as well as a clear display of the lyrical talent of the group as evident in some of my favourites, such as Sea Within a Sea and Scarlet Fields.
“The voice of pricking dread is whispering insistent in my ear My paranoia galvanised by your gaze, so austere”
Anyway, this is completely irrelevant if you don’t share the same reverence as I towards music which gets me ‘in a tizz‘.
Please rain stay away from my precious precious weekend. Ill pray!?
Ugghhh uni has started up again and so far this week has been killing me, by the end of the week I’m going to be feeling like a morbid saint. Weekends are going to be even more precious now that they are all I have left to keep me sane.
Anyway, as previously mentioned, here a few more older photos which have maintained some quality, for me anyway.
Siena High; This shot brings back some good memories. This was my first ever man-sized roof-drop, it didn’t go so well as the photo reveals. On this night I became so much more interested in riding street and documenting it for edits like this.
Ballina Roadtrip; Mannn, for some reason the trip a bunch of us took to Ballina was so much fun. We had a mini convoy rollin’ up to parks for 3 or so days whilst staying at the pictured motel. Some dudes got so loose that night.
Caloundra; This is one of the scariest lip tricks I’ve ever done. Getting the whip just right is so much harder with a foot of vert, on an 8 foot ramp, to contend with. That bike was such a piece of junk.
Samson Ross; I find it hard to believe how small he was here compared to nowadays.
Lastly, the new tempered bone stems have arrived, can’t wait to get one on the rig and try it out. Oh and we have a mini trip planned for this weekend to hit the trails up in Maryborough and ride street around the northern part of the coast/Gympie. Thank god for BMX.
My friend, your friend, everyone’s friend, Samson Ross, has completed another year of his life and as a small celebration we decided to have a few drinks.
Wait, hold up, before the night started, tragedy struck in the form of concrete to head. Trent O’leary was beat down, probably the workings of god due to his unfaithfulness.
Ok so back to the night. See I told you Sam is everyone’s friend, this guy was so friendly he purchased Samson at least 4 drinks. Thanks ‘Toddzyyyy’ from Dalby.
Somehow, the alcohol penetrated Samson’s outer man shell and caused him to let his guard down. Luckily, reinforcements were stationed to clear him out before too much damage was done.
In keeping with the theme of nostalgia, I thought I’d post up a few photos from 2006 which feels like only yesterday. To anyone just starting in BMX, record everything!!! It’s so awesome to look back and laugh at how much of a douche you were.
Samson: The boss, this was shot by duffy from a real good day we had in Logan with Toby.
Another Duffy photo which was never used. I laugh thinking of the effort I used to put into my helmet aesthetics.
Samson: Turndown from an afternoon I can’t remember at the old Beerwah park
This is pretty sweet to look back onto. Riding with Nick (in background) was fun, he has now quit and taken up being a festival ratt. I really loved this bike too, my old Fly Pantera.
Duffy at it again, this was when we first started collaborating on photos/riding.
I have plenty more older photos which I’ll post up later.
They are the same person, Sacha Baron Cohen revealed in his latest interview that he wanted to prove to everyone that many men see blonde her and a set of tits and assume shes sexy. Didn’t fool me, she looks like a horse in a wig.
Back when I was first getting into street/park around the age of 12, I discovered the wonders of props and other BMX video tapes such as criminal mischief, wide awake nightmare, etnies forward and the ridebmx series. Everytime a new video came out I would call up shane and jan at helensvale bmx and pick it up as soon as possible.
Maybe it was just because I was still fresh into bmx or something, but videos back in the day seemed to hold much more value and essence than current dvds. Props megatour 2 is probably my favourite video to watch, not due to the level of riding, but because of the rad music, amazing riders/teams and chill vibe. Other highlights include;
Patrick King at the tender age of 13 or something, getting rad with kickflips all over the place for Mosh.
Studying Regional and Urban Planning, I am constantly confronted with the ‘wicked problem’ of global warming within my studies. Pre-University I was myself, totally unaware of how serious an issue this has become, making me realise how utterly selfish and egotistical the majority of people are in relation to resource usage. Whilst I am certainly no expert on the issue I can confidently say that my knowledge on the topic is slowly building. This spiel is no attempt to solve all the world’s problems, however, I do believe quite strongly that local awareness can help to create change. The paradox; think globally, act locally’ is frequently cited in various science journals and to me, sums up adaptation and mitigation techniques as a whole.
‘Global warming is an international climate change phenomenon with local concerns: emissions are local, and impacts, although driven globally by the extra energy trapped in the atmosphere, are ultimately local. Both mitigation and adaptation must be local. Local action will be central to possible success of any international legal regime or policy initiative’ (Hodas 2003).
I’m not really sure why I am writing about this here, I suppose it’s because each and everyday I am constantly thinking about ways to conserve energy and resources and it irritates me when I see people, including my friends, being wasteful, littering, driving hummers, leaving taps on and vouching for nuclear over renewable.
Harmful effects from previous generations actions are beginning to take place already and there is little we can do about it. However, I believe change can and will take place, even if it takes a global catastrophe (drying up of oil reserves, air quality depletion, huge price rises and massive biodiversity loss) for the general population, led by a large political shift, to ultimately change our current values and ways.
