Music news 27/3/09

March 27th, 2009 — 1:19am

Ok so ive been doing some more research.
New silversun pickups album is up on the web, (aint telling you where) and its amazing. Maximo park have a new album coming out in may, there are a few singles for you ears available at the moment if your impatient.

Gomez’s new album ‘a red tide’ is out today and includes the track airflight driver or something like that and its awesome.

The Basic’s (featuring gotye’s wally de backer) EP with this ship is rad, although i cant find it on the web for download.

Mastodon’s new album is really good, creative/psychedelic metal that is perfect for some shredding edits haha. As well as mastodon, you should also check out Kylesa, a 6 piece hardcore/psychedlic/metal outfit from georgia USA. Similar sound to mastodon.

Im getting sick and tired of waiting for The holidays and The seabellies to release albums, taking their time, however it will be definetely worth the wait, quality australian indie is always good.

Speaking of quality australian indie, Sparkadia are about to set off touring the world, according to their blog, they are going to be working on new material as well, which is really exciting, their debut ‘postcards’ was one of my favourite albums of 08′.

Also, if your into undiscovered aussie music, check out JJJ unearthed, so much good stuff available up there. A few of my favourites include, The cairo’s, The middle east and The killgirls.

Klaxons told to re-record new album

March 22nd, 2009 — 6:11am

Klaxons released their award winning debut Myths Of The Near Future in 2007. They spent last year working on the follow up.

This week Klaxon Jamie Reynolds told the NME that theyve finished a second album but theyve been asked to re-record part of it by their label Universal.

“Because we’ve made a really dense, psychedelic record. We’ve made a really heavy record and it isn’t the right thing for us, I understand and know that. First and foremost we’re a pop band. I haven’t thought about that for a long time, and now it’s in the forefront of my mind.”

He also reported they’re now writing new songs for the album and should have the whole thing wrapped up in about four weeks.
